Job Overview

Position: Structured Cabling Technician

Description:

Our client is seeking an entry-level field technician with a background in new construction. The ideal candidate will be skilled in using hand tools, running cables, and installing various devices.

This technician will be engaged in projects within newly constructed homes, focusing on structured wiring, data pulls, pre-wiring, and the installation of networking cameras, security systems, and home automation solutions from inception to completion.

The organization is looking for an individual who can grow into the role, demonstrating a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and adapt.

Company vehicle and gas card will be provided for travel. - A clean driving record is required.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, weekends off.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute cable and wiring installations for homes under construction, commonly referred to as pre-wiring tasks on large residential construction sites.
  2. Install and configure audio-visual systems, burglar alarms, CCTV (both IP and analog), DVRs, and access control systems for residential clients.
  3. Install window breaks, door units, and smoke detectors.
  4. Troubleshoot signal issues to ensure alarm systems function correctly when necessary.
  5. Engage in daily hands-on field interactions with customers at the site level, along with some customer care responsibilities.
  6. Test and verify signals for all installed equipment.
  7. Educate customers on the operation of equipment and address any inquiries, ensuring they have no further needs.
  8. Complete necessary customer documentation for each job.
  9. Maintain accurate inventory of devices and products in the company vehicle.
  10. Deliver exceptional customer service.

Required Skills:

Cable installation, alarm systems, construction, maintenance, wiring, electronics, audiovisual systems, and customer service.

Additional Qualifications:

The candidate must be comfortable and experienced in new construction environments. Familiarity with reading floor plans, climbing ladders, and understanding security installation from a builder's perspective is essential.

Excellent communication skills are crucial. The candidate should be reliable, adaptable, and possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to think quickly and read non-verbal cues from clients. A solution-oriented, customer-centric approach is vital to instill confidence in clients regarding their concerns.
