Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor / Site Safety and Health Officer is responsible for overseeing, assessing, and guiding daily construction activities on-site. This role involves close collaboration with field personnel to ensure that project execution aligns with established quality and safety standards. The incumbent will enforce construction quality assurance in accordance with the approved Quality Control Plan while also providing leadership in safety and health to guarantee compliance with regulatory requirements.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction with the assigned Project Manager or Superintendent to uphold Bristol's quality and safety standards.
  • Verify that materials meet specifications and schedule necessary inspections throughout the construction process.
  • Interpret and comprehend project plans and specifications effectively.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and team members.
  • Ensure adherence to submittal requirements, including maintaining logs, tracking reviews, and assessing technical submissions as needed.
  • Implement a comprehensive three-phase Quality Control process in line with industry standards.
  • Prepare Daily Quality Control and Safety Reports, Requests for Information (RFIs), and maintain a Deficiency Log, focusing on the safe inspection and testing of completed work.
  • Identify and address job site hazards promptly and respond to emergencies as required.
  • Ensure compliance with the approved safety and quality plans by all personnel and contractors.
  • Maintain an orderly and safe job site, including the construction office.
  • Minimize risks related to company exposure and project performance.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, material logistics, and preparation of scoping documents in accordance with project requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external inspections or audits.
  • Conduct training sessions on-site for employees at all levels.
  • Evaluate potential risks associated with work projects and activities.
  • Participate in investigations of incidents and develop corrective measures.
  • Assess new safety equipment for suitability.
  • Travel as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quality Control Manager/Site Safety and Health Officer on federal projects.
  • At least 5 years of quality control management experience in Department of Defense construction projects.
  • Experience managing projects with budgets ranging from $1M to $30M.
  • Proven safety management experience on DoD projects with a strong focus on hazard identification.
  • Established relationships with federal clients are preferred.
  • Ability to interpret critical path schedules and construction drawings proficiently.
  • Experience supervising diverse construction projects across various delivery methods.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required.
  • Current certifications in OSHA 30 Construction Industry Training and USACE Construction Quality Control Management are mandatory.
