Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Sociology of Sexualities, conduct research in the field, and contribute to the department's academic programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in Sociology of Sexualities, including introductory and advanced courses, as well as courses on related topics such as gender and sexuality.
  • Conduct research in the field of Sociology of Sexualities, with a focus on publishing scholarly articles and books.
  • Develop and maintain a strong research program, including securing external funding and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Contribute to the department's academic programs, including serving on committees and participating in departmental events.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, including serving as a thesis advisor.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field.
  • Strong research and teaching record, with a focus on Sociology of Sexualities.
  • Ability to secure external funding for research projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching courses in Sociology of Sexualities.
  • Research experience in the field of Sociology of Sexualities.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
