Job Summary

Bachman's is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Store Manager in Training to join our team. As a Store Manager in Training, you will be responsible for assisting the store manager in the operation of the entire store and have the ability to efficiently run the store in their absence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the store manager in planning and executing operational and staffing needs to effectively run the store
  • Provide excellent customer service and be a role model to others
  • Resolve customer concerns and problems in a fair and equitable manner
  • Hire, train, motivate, and discipline staff
  • Perform required administrative functions on a timely basis, including sales and labor reports, schedules, reviews, and timecards
  • Motivate and solve employee relation concerns while supporting company policies and procedures
  • Navigate a Windows-based POS system and resolve POS or PC problems
  • Train complex procedures to seasonal staff annually and adjust to large seasonal changes in business activities
  • Anticipate and maintain stock levels to support store sales expectations and adjust to changes in merchandising programs
  • Plan and execute operational and staffing needs to effectively run the store and ensure product quality is maintained to a high standard
  • Manage the entire store operation in the absence of the store manager
  • Ensure physical cleanliness and maintenance of the store
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity
  • Associate's degree in Horticulture or related post-secondary education
  • Ability to work from any Bachman's retail store location
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and build relationships with customers and staff
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Technical knowledge including POS systems, Windows, and Excel
  • Knowledge of merchandise and display
  • Ability to flex and display initiative in a short amount of time
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments
  • High energy level, with the ability to provide strong leadership, train, delegate, and motivate staff
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and increased seasonal/holiday hours
Physical Requirements/Job Conditions
  • Ability to use telephone, POS, perform repetitive movements of the arms and shoulders, stand for extended periods of time, move freely around the store, bend, twist, reach, squat, climb a ladder occasionally, and regularly lift/carry up to 50 pounds
  • Work directly on the sales floor 85% of the time, continuously walk around all areas of the store throughout the shift
  • Read written instructions, reports, and other information on paper and computer screens
  • Use 2-way radios (hear incoming messages and provide verbal response)
  • Perform stocking and sales functions indoors and out during inclement weather approximately 50%
  • Push/pull merchandise with appropriate equipment (carts, bins, etc.) to and from the backroom and sales floor
