Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the formulation of Statements of Work (SOW) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for new initiatives, as well as for ongoing development phases of existing programs.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and feasibility studies of preliminary designs, collaborating with the Development Engineering Manager and Staff Technologist, and ultimately endorsing the design for progression.
  • Ensure compliance with CT's design review protocols.
  • Lead the preparation of technical documentation, including the creation of Functional Requirements Documents (FRD).
  • Assist the Program Manager in crafting the Project Plan for assigned projects at the commencement of each phase.
  • Guarantee adherence to approved contractual agreements concerning defined tasks and deliverables outlined in the SOW, as well as the effort estimations detailed in the WBS.
  • Identify necessary out-of-scope tasks and escalate to the Program Manager when project activities are projected to exceed WBS estimates.
  • Document and outline the plan and effort required for identified out-of-scope work, providing this information to the Program Manager for customer submission.
  • Oversee the technical management of a multi-disciplinary project team, ensuring the quality of deliverables.
  • Ensure team compliance with all mandated ISO systems and processes, including accurate time tracking and coordination of document change control.
  • Maintain project status information using CT-supported tools and methodologies; promote team collaboration and communication, ensuring proper utilization of CT-supported collaboration tools by team members.
  • With support from the Development Engineering Manager and Staff Technologist, take accountability for all technical documentation produced throughout a project, including project plans, specifications, meeting notes, action items, engineering bills of material, analyses, prototype and test data, and any other project documentation in support of the Project History File (PHF) requirements per CT's ISO process.
  • Coordinate with Program Managers to identify resource requirements and allocation for project activities.
  • Assist the Program Manager in phase closure reviews to analyze delivery against the project plan.

Provide recommendations for incorporation into subsequent phases to enhance performance against target metrics.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in engineering product development; proven success in managing complex projects from inception to commercialization; exceptional systems engineering skills are essential.
  • Strong project management skills, particularly in influencing without authority, are critical for this role.
  • Experience in the technical oversight of cross-functional engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project.
  • Experience with ERP and PDM systems is required; familiarity with Epicor E10 and SolidWorks PDM is advantageous.
  • Project management experience in a Time & Materials environment, executed according to an approved statement of work.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies and supporting software tools is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in customer presentations.

Working Environment

  • Primarily operates in an office setting, but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the standard office environment. Some travel may be necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Engagement with individuals and technology while either standing or seated.
  • Must be capable of communicating effectively in person and over the phone.
