Under supervision, conducts specialized and technical inspections of various buildings, structures, and locations to ensure adherence to fire safety laws, regulations, and ordinances. This role also involves the preparation and delivery of community fire safety education initiatives, management of Fire Department permit processes, and oversight of office staff in maintaining relevant documentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts comprehensive fire safety inspections of diverse buildings and facilities to verify compliance with fire safety codes and regulations; evaluates and tests fire alarm systems, sprinkler installations, and other fire protection devices.
- Performs specialized inspections in designated areas such as educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and hazardous materials handling, as mandated by state regulations.
- Addresses fire hazard complaints and violations, providing recommendations for corrective measures.
- Designs and implements fire safety education programs tailored for community engagement, collecting and analyzing data to enhance program effectiveness.
- Manages Fire Department permit applications, ensuring thorough inspection and processing of permits from various governmental entities.
- Supervises record-keeping and filing processes, ensuring accurate documentation for compliance and reporting.
- Collaborates with uniformed personnel to review architectural plans and specifications for new constructions or modifications, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires prior specialized experience or education in fire safety inspection, making it a pivotal role in the Fire Safety Inspector series. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of fire safety regulations and demonstrate the ability to work independently in a technical capacity.
