Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Investigator to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. As a Fire Investigator, you will be responsible for studying fire and explosion scenes, determining the cause and origin of fires and explosions, and conveying your findings to others in a clear and concise manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough investigations of fire and explosion scenes to determine the cause and origin of fires and explosions.
  • Collect and analyze evidence, including physical samples and witness statements.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of fire behavior, fire dynamics, and fire safety principles.
  • Communicate findings and conclusions to others in a clear and concise manner, usually through a written report.
  • Defend opinions in a court of law, if necessary.
  • Travel to loss sites to conduct investigations, often within a 100-mile radius from the assigned office.
  • Work closely with clients to provide timely and accurate project updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) or Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) through a recognized professional organization.
  • Private Investigator License in the state(s) in which you are assigned, or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience working in the public and/or private sectors performing fire origin and cause investigations on residential and commercial structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
