Position Title: Sales Associate

Job Overview:

The Salvation Army is dedicated to serving the community and providing a supportive environment for all individuals. As a Sales Associate, you will play a crucial role in our retail operations, ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to: Store Supervisor

Supervises: May oversee volunteers or community service personnel.

Qualifications:

- High School diploma or equivalent.

- Familiarity with cash handling and cashiering procedures.

- Previous retail experience is preferred.

- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new processes.

- Collaborative team player with a focus on achieving store objectives.

- Proactive problem solver who seeks assistance when necessary.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Technical Skills:

- Proficient in cash register operations.

- Basic knowledge of Excel for reviewing retail sales statistics.

- Ability to utilize the internet for research and communication.

Responsibilities:

1. Store Maintenance:

Ensure the retail sales floor is clean, safe, and well-maintained. Report any areas needing attention to the supervisor.

2. Sales and Customer Engagement:

Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner. Address inquiries and provide information about our programs and services.

3. Merchandising:

Maintain attractive and organized displays to enhance customer interest. Regularly update store layouts and ensure shelves are stocked with current merchandise.

4. Community Relations:

Foster positive relationships with customers and handle any complaints with professionalism and respect. Document interactions accurately for future reference.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to perform various physical tasks including lifting up to 35 lbs.

- Capable of standing, walking, bending, and reaching as needed.
