Briefly, a support organization for a global law firm, is seeking a Trust and Estates Paralegal to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will work closely with clients, attorneys, and other paralegals to provide exceptional service and support in trust administration, estate planning, and probate matters.
Responsibilities:- Prepare and file probate court documents, including Petitions to Administer Estate, Guardian ad litem petitions, and fiduciary reports/accountings.
- Assist attorneys with the administration of decedent's trusts and estates, including marshalling, organizing, and analyzing asset information, valuation of assets, and preparation of inventories and asset allocation agreements.
- Draft complete estate plans for attorney review and assist with the preparation of federal estate tax returns and related filings.
- Set up, maintain, and ensure that files are kept current, including classifying, arranging files, filing, and storing information.
- Monitor, prioritize, organize, and facilitate daily workflow to meet project deadlines, including administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, calendar management, and processing expense reimbursements.
- Interact with clients who have suffered the loss of a loved one or are under a great deal of stress, showing compassion and empathy.
- Advanced knowledge of state and local probate court rules.
- Basic to intermediate skills with West Law Form, Builder, Data Tree, Bill4Time, One Legal, and iManage.
- Intermediate to advanced skill in the use of software systems, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat DC, and Power Point.
- Notary public or willingness to become one.
- Detail-oriented with excellent proofreading skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
