Job Overview
The role involves ensuring the operational efficiency and dependability of machinery, engines, and mechanical systems. Various tasks may be conducted under diverse weather and environmental conditions, including exposure to jet engine emissions, dust, and noise.
  • Conduct inspections and maintenance on ground support equipment utilized in aviation operations.
  • Diagnose, repair, and/or overhaul ground support machinery.
  • Service ground support equipment with necessary fluids such as fuel, water, oil, and hydraulic fluid.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and manuals to identify issues.
  • Assemble and construct machines or mechanical components as per specifications.
  • Perform inspections on machinery, engines, and transmissions, running diagnostic tests to identify functionality problems.
  • Execute repairs to ensure maximum reliability.
  • Carry out comprehensive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery components as needed.
  • Refill fluids and replace components in engines and machinery.
  • Advise users on proper maintenance and preventive measures for machinery or vehicles.
  • Maintain logs of work performed and report on any issues encountered.
  • Complete necessary paperwork related to ground support equipment.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
The following tasks may be performed in varying weather and environmental conditions, including exposure to jet engine emissions, dust, or noise. Candidates must be capable of:
  • Lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds frequently.
  • Reading, writing, and fluently communicating in English.
  • Understanding and following instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Writing routine business correspondence.
  • Effectively presenting information in small group and one-on-one settings to clients, supervisors, and colleagues.
  • Addressing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Applying common sense to execute detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Performing basic arithmetic operations in various units of measure.
  • Demonstrating excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components.
  • Utilizing various hand tools and precision measurement instruments effectively.
  • Adhering to established procedures and reading instructions and blueprints.
  • Committing to all health and safety regulations.
  • Exhibiting strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrating problem-solving abilities.
  • Maintaining good physical strength and stamina.
Qualifications
To successfully fulfill this role, candidates must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
  • High School diploma or GED with at least one (1) year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience with ground support equipment or heavy machinery is preferred.
  • Possession of personal tools is required.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship is a significant advantage.
  • Valid ASE certification is preferred.
Compensation varies based on multiple factors, including skill sets, education, shift worked, responsibilities, seniority, geographical market, merit, output, productivity, prior training or experience, and travel. The pay range for this position is $22.66 to $25.84 per hour.
