Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and maintenance on ground support equipment utilized in aviation operations.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul ground support machinery as needed.
- Service equipment with necessary fluids including fuel, oil, water, and hydraulic fluids.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and manuals to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
- Assemble and construct machines or mechanical components according to specifications.
- Run diagnostic tests on engines, transmissions, and other machinery to identify functionality problems.
- Perform repairs to ensure maximum reliability of equipment.
- Carry out comprehensive maintenance on machinery and systems.
- Clean and lubricate machinery components to ensure optimal performance.
- Replenish fluids and replace components in engines and machinery.
- Advise users on proper maintenance and preventative strategies for machinery.
- Maintain accurate logs of work performed and report any issues encountered.
- Complete necessary paperwork related to ground support equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
The role requires the ability to:
- Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds frequently.
- Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Comprehend instructions and correspondences.
- Present information clearly in both individual and small group settings.
- Resolve problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Follow detailed instructions accurately.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Utilize hand tools and precision measurement instruments effectively.
- Adhere to established procedures and interpret blueprints.
- Commit to health and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain good physical stamina and strength.
To be successful in this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- High School diploma or GED with at least one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with ground support equipment or heavy machinery is preferred.
- Possession of personal tools is required.
- A valid driver's license is necessary.
- Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship is advantageous.
- Preferred certification includes ASE.
Pay ranges for this position vary based on several factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, and experience. The hourly pay range is between $22.66 and $25.84.
