Job Overview

  • Conduct inspections and maintenance on ground support equipment utilized in aviation operations.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and/or overhaul ground support machinery.
  • Service ground support equipment with necessary fluids such as fuel, water, oil, and hydraulic fluid.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and reference manuals to identify issues.
  • Assemble and construct machines or mechanical components per specifications.
  • Examine machines, engines, and transmissions, performing diagnostic tests to identify operational problems.
  • Execute repairs with a focus on maximizing reliability.
  • Perform comprehensive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery components as required.
  • Refill fluids and replace components in engines and machinery.
  • Advise users on proper maintenance and preventive measures for machines or vehicles.
  • Maintain work logs and report any issues encountered.
  • Complete necessary paperwork related to ground support equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
The following tasks may be performed in various weather and environmental conditions, including exposure to jet engine emissions, dust, or noise. Candidates must possess the ability to:
  • Regularly lift and/or move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Read, write, and fluently communicate in English.
  • Comprehend instructions, brief correspondence, and memos.
  • Draft routine business correspondence.
  • Effectively present information in individual and small group settings to clients, supervisors, and colleagues.
  • Address problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Apply common sense to execute detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
  • Perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Exhibit strong knowledge of machinery, hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using various hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, hammers) and precision measurement instruments (e.g., calipers).
  • Adhere to established procedures and practices while interpreting instructions and blueprints.
  • Commit to all health and safety regulations.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exhibit good physical strength and stamina.
Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED along with one (1) year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience with ground support equipment or heavy machinery is preferred.
  • Possession of personal tools is required.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Certification from a vocational institution or completion of an apprenticeship is a significant advantage.
  • Valid ASE certification is preferred.
Compensation varies based on multiple factors, including skill sets, education, shift worked, responsibilities, seniority, geographical market, merit, output, productivity, prior training or experience, and travel. The pay range for this position is $22.66 to $25.84 per hour.
