Position Overview

HITT Contracting is in search of a Director of Sustainable Construction to oversee the daily operations of our Sustainable Construction team. This role is crucial in ensuring that our organization and all associated projects adhere to principles of environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

The Director will champion a culture of sustainability within HITT, optimizing processes and programs throughout the company. Recognized as a subject matter expert, the Director will confidently lead and educate both internal and external stakeholders. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Project Solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight to HITT's Sustainability Managers and Associates, guiding them in the daily management of project certifications to maintain a top-tier Sustainability Department.
  • Formulate and execute sustainable strategies, educating team members on sustainable construction program requirements and best practices for effective project delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable sustainability regulations, codes, and standards established by local authorities, industry organizations, and certification programs.
  • Lead the Sustainability team in gathering, analyzing, and presenting relevant sustainability data and trends to support decision-making processes for HITT leadership.
  • Facilitate internal committees to create programs that bolster HITT's sustainability culture and vision.
  • Take initiative in identifying best practices for managing supply chains and material sourcing while minimizing waste throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with relevant regulatory bodies, industry groups, and committees to keep HITT at the forefront of sustainability and compliance.
  • Engage and cultivate partnerships with sustainability-focused subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, manufacturers, designers, and clients to promote shared objectives.
  • Collaborate nationally with HITT's business units in pursuits, ensuring HITT remains a preferred choice for clients facing increasing sustainability demands.
  • Oversee, monitor, and ensure the timely achievement of annual corporate sustainability objectives.

Qualifications

  • Current LEED AP BD&C or ID&C accreditation.
  • 10-12 years of experience in the construction sector, with a substantial focus on leading sustainable construction initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of LEED v4 and v5, WELL, LBC, Net Zero Energy, and other recognized green building rating systems.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainable strategies that reduce environmental impact, enhance resource efficiency, and promote social responsibility, coupled with strong communication skills to present these strategies to all stakeholders.
  • Innovative thinking with a commitment to elevating sustainable business practices and ensuring project certifications for clients and communities.
  • A high degree of self-awareness and a humble, approachable leadership style focused on continuous personal, team, and organizational growth.
  • Adaptability and a quick learner, embracing change and new technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and track detailed data and documentation.
