Position Overview:

AdventHealth Medical Group is in search of a Physician Assistant (PA) dedicated to delivering comprehensive medical care, support, and education to patients and their families throughout the colorectal healthcare journey. The PA will play a pivotal role within the colorectal team, focusing on addressing both the physical and emotional needs of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments for both outpatients and inpatients, including new patient evaluations, consultations, and follow-ups for benign anorectal issues and colorectal cancers.
  • Order and analyze diagnostic tests to inform treatment decisions.
  • Administer infrared coagulation therapy, perform anorectal manometry and ultrasound, and provide wound and ostomy care in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
  • Act as a resource for patients and families, offering guidance on diagnoses and treatment plans while coordinating a multidisciplinary approach to care.
  • Educate patients and families about health issues, treatment options, self-care strategies, and preventive measures to promote independence and wellness.
  • Write medical orders and prescriptions as necessary.
  • Refer patients to specialists based on individual clinical needs.
  • Manage patient discharges, ensuring appropriate follow-up care and education.
  • Assist in surgical procedures, including serving as first or second assistant in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries.
  • Participate in intraoperative colonoscopies and conduct rounds on hospitalized patients.
  • Prepare detailed discharge summaries for patient records.
  • Collaborate with other advanced practice providers and physicians, adhering to established protocols and institutional policies.
  • Facilitate patient admissions, discharges, and scheduling processes.
  • Develop and implement educational materials for patients and families.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting all relevant interactions and outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a patient advocate and consultant for inpatient staff and associated departments.
  • Anticipate the needs of patients, families, and healthcare providers to enhance care delivery.
  • Utilize resources efficiently to ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
  • Adapt to evolving technologies, policies, and workload demands through effective prioritization and critical thinking.
  • Exemplify professional standards and ethical practices, serving as a role model for peers.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through education and participation in relevant organizations.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $133,690 - $141,050
  • Signing Bonus: $6,464
  • Relocation Assistance: $10,000
