Work Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours, from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, Monday through Friday, including on-call duties during nights and weekends.

Your Role:

Surgical technologists play a vital role in the surgical team, working under the guidance of registered nurses and surgeons to ensure the safe and efficient execution of surgical procedures. They are responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly, and that patient safety is prioritized throughout the surgical process. Surgical technologists possess expertise in aseptic techniques and are knowledgeable about human anatomy and surgical practices, enabling them to support physicians effectively during both therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the surgery and anticipating the surgeon's needs.
  • Prepare for surgeries by gathering, verifying, and organizing necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring all items are functional and accessible.
  • Uphold strict aseptic techniques, monitoring all team members to prevent any breaches in sterile protocols, including performing surgical hand scrubs and setting up sterile fields.
  • Conduct instrument, sharps, and sponge counts in collaboration with the circulating nurse as per established policies.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Completion of a surgical technology program, LPN or RN program, military training in surgical technology, or equivalent on-the-job training with at least 5 years of experience in an acute care operating room setting.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to effectively fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Fundamental knowledge of aseptic techniques and surgical instruments.
