About the Role

Remitly is seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel, New Product Initiatives to join our dynamic legal team. As a key member of our global business group, you will play a critical role in establishing a world-class legal function for our fast-growing financial services company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support new product strategies and initiatives by providing complex legal advice in a highly regulated and global financial services industry.
  • Advise product, engineering, design, compliance, and go-to-market teams on legal requirements and risks related to modifications of existing products and implementing new financial products.
  • Proactively identify risks and recommend reasonable mitigations.
  • Assist with regulatory interactions and internal audit inquiries.
  • Work collaboratively with business partners and diverse, highly-talented, and mission-driven cross-functional global teams to drive stakeholder alignment and resolution.
Requirements
  • J.D. or equivalent.
  • Admitted to, and in good standing with at least one State Bar.
  • 6 or more years of experience practicing either in-house, preferably in FinTech or bank environments (or in an equivalent setting) or at a reputable law firm, with a focus on financial services and products, including state and federal banking, payments and digital wallets, and fintech-related laws and industry norms.
  • Collaborate as part of a team, and to prioritize project management.
  • Willingness to travel, as necessary.
