Creative Music Educator

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The role of the Creative Music Educator is to deliver engaging and high-quality music instruction, fostering a deep appreciation for music among students. This position is integral to achieving the educational standards set forth by the Framingham Fire Department, ensuring that all students have equitable access to enriching music experiences that promote academic growth and cultural understanding.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A valid Massachusetts Teaching license in Music (PreK-12) is essential. Additional certifications in related fields are welcomed.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or a related field is required. Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is advantageous.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are essential to the role of Creative Music Educator:
  • Demonstrating expertise in music pedagogy;
  • Engaging students through diverse musical genres and practices;
  • Designing and implementing culturally relevant music lessons;
  • Establishing a positive classroom environment that promotes learning;
  • Setting clear learning objectives and communicating them effectively;
  • Regularly assessing student performance and providing constructive feedback;
  • Collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to enhance the educational experience;
  • Participating in professional development and staff meetings.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

The working environment is representative of a typical educational setting, requiring physical mobility and the ability to engage with students actively.

SUPERVISION:

This position reports to the Building Principal and the Director of Fine and Performing Arts.

CLASSIFICATION:

This position is classified as Exempt (Professional).

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:

Employment is governed by the policies and agreements set forth by the Framingham Fire Department.
