Position Summary
The Recreation/Recreational Therapist is responsible for conducting professional evaluations, planning, and executing Therapeutic Recreation programs aimed at enhancing, maintaining, or restoring functional abilities. This role is essential in helping patients achieve their highest potential in leisure education, adaptive recreation, and recreational activities. The therapist will initiate assessments and create goal-oriented treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs and capabilities.
Working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, the therapist will contribute to the recreational therapy care plan, assessing the patient's previous leisure lifestyle and establishing therapeutic goals and objectives. The role may also involve developing and implementing diversionary activity programs to support patients' social integration during their rehabilitation.
Onboarding Process
Candidates must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment health screening, including a drug test.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Administration, or a related field.
- Preferred: At least 1 year of experience as a Recreation Therapist.
- Certification: Eligible for certification by the Consortium for Therapeutic Recreation/Activity Certification (CTRS) or the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC), or possess a Master's Degree in a related discipline (e.g., Music Therapy, Art Therapy).
