Position Title: Communication Support Specialist (CSS)
Department: Special Student Services
Reports To: Program Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Bargaining Unit: Classified, OSEA
FTE: 0.40 FTE; 7.5 hours per day
MISSION STATEMENT: In collaboration with the communities we serve, Northwest Regional ESD enhances student learning by providing equitable access to high-quality services and support.
As a vital member of the educational team, the Communication Support Specialist (CSS) plays a crucial role in facilitating students' communication skills. CSS professionals implement ongoing speech and language programs and services under the guidance of the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This role is dedicated to providing services to students with identified speech and language needs as determined by the SLP.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree from an accredited speech language pathology assistant program.
- Proficient in online software, email, internet navigation, spreadsheets, word processing, and assistive technology.
- Licensure through the Oregon Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
- Personal vehicle for travel throughout the designated area of assignment.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred.
- Ensure that all students receive high-quality, culturally, and linguistically sensitive services.
- Demonstrate awareness, knowledge, and sensitivity regarding language acquisition among linguistically and/or culturally diverse populations.
- Address social, academic, and vocational needs that impact educational objectives.
- Assist with scheduling and maintain accurate records and data.
- Conduct hearing screenings as necessary.
