Position Overview:
The primary objective of this role is to facilitate the advancement and execution of Smart Factory initiatives.

This includes working closely with production teams to pinpoint essential manufacturing data that can be automatically measured, gathered, analyzed, visualized, and reported, ultimately leading to enhancements in product quality and operational efficiency.

The responsibilities encompass the design and support of IT infrastructure on the shop floor, management of applications, deployment of cloud solutions, and establishment of data acquisition systems.

Key areas of focus include the implementation of the Internet of Everything, management of plant floor computer systems, cloud computing, and other Industry 4.0 innovations.

This position has a regional focus across all business units in North America, with significant collaboration with international teams.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and evaluate cutting-edge Industry 4.0 technologies to enhance core capabilities;
  • Design and develop hardware/software for customized IoE devices and systems;
  • Assist in the deployment of automated production data collection systems;
  • Tailor and implement manufacturing traceability solutions and related software for production process visualization, data storage, and analytics;
  • Oversee the management of production databases utilized for analytics and visualization;
  • Devise a networking strategy for plant and machinery to reduce downtime and optimize efficiency;
  • Provide on-site support to address critical operational issues.

Supervisory Role:
This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Proven expertise in the development and management of databases and data storage systems;
Familiarity with manufacturing management systems (MES) and data acquisition processes;
Experience in custom software development utilizing modern programming languages and tools;
Proficient in managing MS/Linux operating systems and scripting;
Knowledge of computer and machine networking principles, including implementation and troubleshooting;
Ability to collaborate effectively across various departments to achieve objectives;
Demonstrated capability to manage personal tasks and deliverables efficiently.

Preferred Skills:
Experience with manufacturing traceability and process control software;
Understanding of automated machine controls and PLC programming;
Familiarity with the production system and methodologies;
Strong grasp of statistical methods, data analysis, and validation of manufacturing processes.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field;
A minimum of 5 years of experience supporting networked computer systems and software;
At least 7 years of experience in developing custom applications for manufacturing operations.
