Job Title: Finance Generalist

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Generalist to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a Finance Generalist, you will be responsible for a variety of professional-level work across various financial disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate purchases and ensure timely payment of bills in compliance with University requirements.
  • Enter payroll costing allocations and adjustments.
  • Track fund accounts, special projects, or tasks to ensure accurate entries and monitor account balances.
  • Prepare account reconciliations following financial and auditing procedures within the mandated timeframe.
  • Monitor suspense accounts each month and take necessary actions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • At least two years of experience in a related field, or equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using UBI and Workday.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to recognize when a problem should be escalated within the team.
  • Microsoft Office experience, with preference given to applicants with at least Intermediate-level skills in Excel.
  • Experience interpreting and applying UVA and Commonwealth of Virginia policies and procedures.
