About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technology Operations Engineer to join our team at Lowe's. As a key member of our technology operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the operational health and performance of our technology systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement complex solutions requirements and functional specifications to support integrated and sustainable designs for designated infrastructure systems.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to ensure flexible, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure systems are delivered.
  • Work with senior-level engineers to provide recommendations and input on options, risks, and benefits for infrastructure systems designs.
  • Maintain, upgrade, optimize, and ensure maximum uptime of live, pre-production, and dev environments.
  • Troubleshoot and fix (or escalate) application, network, system, and database issues.
  • Develop and validate basic system design prototypes.
  • Build basic hardware and/or software configurations and prepare system components for installation to the infrastructure.
  • Develop, validate, and execute basic infrastructure tests to identify system errors and ensure solutions meet functional specifications.
  • Lead efforts to deliver the validation and testing of smaller, basic components of larger infrastructure systems.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of assigned enterprise infrastructure systems to ensure successful deployment and operation by developing and documenting detailed standards (e.g., guidelines, processes, procedures) for the introduction and maintenance of services.
  • Provide support for functionality tests as needed, working with Technology teams to revise key system components based on test results as appropriate.
  • Provide post-implementation support, making system enhancements as needed.
Systems Administration Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems and systems in one or more additional IT domains (e.g., systems, network, databases, storage, security) by analyzing systems to identify problems, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide first and second-level support for enterprise systems by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving incidents to minimize non-routine system downtime.
  • Assist in the implementation of hardware and software changes into environments by performing impact analyses of system changes.
  • Document and communicate relevant system performance and procedural information by maintaining documentation of application and/or system diagrams, schemata, and dictionaries.
  • Participate in the process of drafting key components of system administration standard operating procedures.
  • Recommend and execute performance tuning, load balancing, and optimization activities.
  • Collaborate with technical and project teams to resolve system incidents, assisting in break and fix activities where needed.
  • Provide input into the development of disaster recovery procedures; assist in disaster recovery planning, testing, and activation activities.
  • Help evaluate system designs to standardize, develop advanced features, and improve the efficiency of enterprise systems.
  • Help design and disseminate reports for end users to assist in incident management, forecasting, and solution development.
  • Participate in break/fix activities.
Qualifications

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Technology Operations Engineer with a strong background in IT support and infrastructure management. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or a related field, and at least 2 years of experience in an IT support environment with technical experience in distributed technologies and systems development.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or a related field, and 2 years of experience leading technical or project teams with or without direct reports. The candidate should also have experience working in a large matrixed organization, working with third-party IT vendors and/or systems solution providers, and writing technical documentation in an infrastructure development environment.
