Coronary Medical ICU (MICU A4)
Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering professional nursing care aimed at ensuring the comfort and health of patients. The RN prepares medical equipment and assists physicians during examinations and procedures. The RN administers prescribed medications, performs dressing changes, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs of patients. The RN meticulously observes and maintains detailed records regarding patient care, conditions, reactions, and progress.
The RN plays a crucial role as a primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and execution of patient care.
The RN directs and aids in the implementation of safe aseptic techniques and procedures. The RN provides leadership and guidance to all support staff within the department.
The Coronary Medical ICU is a 24-bed multidisciplinary unit dedicated to caring for a diverse range of patients with severe medical, cardiac, and surgical disorders or complications that necessitate the highest level of monitoring and treatment.
Acute Coronary Syndrome, STEMI, NSTEMI, ARDS, Diabetic Emergencies, Drug Overdose, GI Bleed, Multi-system Organ Failure, Renal Failure, Respiratory Diseases, and Sepsis.
In collaboration with the Resident, the Medical/Cardiac ICU staff provides exceptional care in an environment characterized by clinical excellence, collaboration, diversity, teamwork, and mutual respect.
CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline is a leading acute care medical facility in the region, offering a comprehensive range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care.
It serves as the primary emergency facility in the area and is the only Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with healthcare professionals specifically trained in emergency services.
The Pavilion and the Critical Care Center feature a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and surgical suites.As a teaching facility affiliated with the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center College of Medicine, it is recognized as an Accredited Chest Pain Center and has an Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team.
The Shoreline campus is a premier facility housing many of the region's most essential and esteemed programs, including a Primary Stroke Center, a nationally accredited Cancer Center, and a nationally recognized Chest Pain Center.

The Heart Institute provides the most advanced diagnostic, surgical, and rehabilitative cardiac services in one convenient location.Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Capable of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
One year of nursing experience preferred.
Current Texas State RN License
CPR certification (American Heart Association)
ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer date

NIHSS certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer date

Ssh Trauma Icu:
TNCC certification required within 18 months of hire/transfer date
