About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Separation Systems Manager to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our New Glenn program, you will be responsible for leading the development and operations of our separation systems, ensuring the safe and reliable launch of our vehicles into space.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the design, development, test, and production of our separation systems, including pneumatic systems, actuation systems, and ordnance-based separation systems.
  • Collaborate with our Sr. Director of Customer & Payload Accommodations to ensure seamless integration with our customer and payload accommodations teams.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians to design, develop, and test our separation systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Work closely with our supplier management and internal manufacturing organizations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of our separation systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards, including those related to safety, quality, and environmental impact.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an aerospace, mechanical, or systems engineering-related field, with 8+ years of experience in sophisticated mechanical systems development.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and managing complex projects, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with design drawing and GD&T practices, CREO and Windchill design lifecycle tools, and structural and fluid/thermal analysis tools and practices such as ANSYS and Thermal Desktop.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, Program Management Professional (PMP) certification, and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience.
  • M.S. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or systems engineering, with experience in launch vehicle development, production, and operations.
  • Strong business management skills and experience managing large, geographically dispersed programs with large subcontractors.
