Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients, preparing them for laboratory testing, and ensuring accurate and efficient processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect blood and other specimens from patients using various techniques, including venipuncture and capillary puncture.
  • Label and prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, laboratory staff, and medical staff to ensure smooth specimen collection and processing.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest laboratory techniques and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Certification from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of phlebotomy experience, with additional education or training may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures, including blood collection and specimen preparation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, laboratory staff, and medical staff.
Working Conditions:

This role requires frequent standing, walking, and bending, as well as the ability to support the body weight of adult patients when moving from a chair to an exam table. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to a medical group and laboratory environment is also a requirement.
