Job Summary

Cobble Hill LifeCare is seeking a highly skilled Food Service Manager to oversee the evening shift operations in our kitchen. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that meals are prepared in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations with our established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise kitchen operations and meal preps in accordance with the planned menu and standardized recipes.
  • Delegate responsibilities to the cook/Cook's helper regarding meal preparation.
  • Consult with Chef, Director, and others on the team to ensure proper tasks are being completed for food preparation, resident requests, accuracy of tray items, compliance with medical diagnoses, menu changes, etc.
  • Test prepared food for temperature, appearance and palatability.
  • Attend and participate in managers' meetings.
  • Facilitate in-service trainings.
  • Collect and record all relevant data, such as temperatures, special devices, etc.
  • Ensure that the team follows safety regulations as well as maintaining clean storage areas and that proper food handling equipment techniques are used.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Chef or Food Service Director to ensure proper care of residents and efficient operation of the department.
Requirements
  • Must have worked with a Chef as a cook for at least (1) year in an accredited institution.
  • Food Handlers certification required. ServSafe certification preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of operating equipment used in food preparation.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to follow recipes and production sheets and make calculations when adjusting recipes and menu portions.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets, portion control, and dietary practices and procedures.
  • Proven leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with others.
