Job Title: Food Service Manager

Cobble Hill LifeCare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Service Manager to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for managing the evening shift operations, ensuring that dietary aides complete tasks, cooks follow the meal completion timeline, and evening meals are prepared in accordance with federal, state, and local standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise kitchen operations and meal preparation in accordance with the planned menu and standardized recipes.
  • Delegate responsibilities to cooks and cook helpers regarding meal preparation.
  • Consult with the Chef, Director, and others on the team to ensure proper tasks are being completed for food preparation, resident requests, accuracy of tray items, compliance with medical diagnoses, menu changes, etc.
  • Test prepared food for temperature, appearance, and palatability.
  • Attend and participate in managers' meetings.
  • Facilitate in-service trainings.
  • Collect and record all relevant data, such as temperatures, special devices, etc.
  • Ensure that the team follows safety regulations and maintains clean storage areas and proper food handling equipment techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef or Food Service Director to ensure proper care of residents and efficient operation of the department.

Requirements:

  • Must have worked with a Chef as a cook for at least one year in an accredited institution.
  • Food Handlers certification required. ServSafe certification preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of operating equipment used in food preparation.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to follow recipes and production sheets and make calculations when adjusting recipes and menu portions.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets, portion control, and dietary practices and procedures.
  • Proven leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with others.
