Purchasing Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Manager to join our team at Selectek in Canton, GA. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies to acquire raw materials, components, and outside services at optimal prices and within required timeframes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to support manufacturing operations efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure favorable conditions for the company.
  • Monitor inventory levels, collaborate with planning and inventory control teams, and maintain appropriate stock levels to prevent production delays.
  • Manage the creation, approval, and tracking of purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of materials and resolving any issues related to order discrepancies or delays.
  • Analyze market trends, pricing, and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure that purchased materials meet quality standards and specifications required for manufacturing, addressing and resolving any issues related to material quality or supplier performance.
  • Comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, maintaining accurate records and documentation for audits and reporting purposes.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance teams to understand material requirements and resolve any procurement-related issues.
  • Supervise/Manage one or more buyers, preparing and presenting reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, inventory levels, and cost savings.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to procurement, including supply chain disruptions and vendor reliability, developing contingency plans to address potential issues that could impact production.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in procurement or purchasing management, with a focus on manufacturing environments.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

Location: Canton, GA

Pay: $40-$45/hr.
