Director of Perioperative Services

Kaiser Permanente seeks a seasoned healthcare professional to lead our Perioperative Services team. As Director, Perioperative Services, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of management to ensure the provision of quality patient-centered care for our Emergency Services patient population. You will provide leadership development, policy implementation, and staff training to ensure staff has the necessary skills and competencies to perform their essential job functions.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer the operating budget for assigned departments, collaborating with other services to prepare annual capital and operating budgets, and monitoring financial reports.
- Foster collaboration between nursing, medical staff, and other hospital departments to ensure quality, comprehensive, and coordinated patient care, ensuring policy, procedure, and practice are consistent with hospital strategic direction and regulatory standards.
- Participate in administrative management of the hospital, serving as Administrator-on-call on a rotation basis, and working collaboratively with labor liaisons to interpret terms of labor contracts.
- Provide direction for all emergency departments' clinical functions, supervising department managers in developing policy and procedures, determining staffing patterns, and developing programs that support quality patient-centered care.
- Ensure employees providing care have the knowledge and skills required to provide age-appropriate care to patients and families through education, training, or experience, mentoring department managers and staff, and developing orientation tools.
- Minimum five years of management experience in a leadership role in a healthcare organization.
- Minimum two years of budget development experience.
- Masters in Nursing or Bachelors in Nursing with a Masters in a related field.
- Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support within three months of hire.
- Minimum three years of supervisory experience in a healthcare organization in a managed care setting.
- Labor relations experience in a union environment.
- Payroll/financial systems/budget experience.
- Certification in a clinical specialty or nursing administration.
- Member of a professional organization.
- Knowledge of licensing and accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission and NCQA.
- Advanced degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or business.
