GENERAL FUNCTION: The Audit Division at Fifth Third Bank is dedicated to executing independent and objective assurance activities across the Bank's critical business processes, products, services, and technologies, alongside governance and oversight functions. The Senior Audit Associate plays a pivotal role in conducting comprehensive business process audits across various sectors within the Capital Markets division, focusing on areas such as operations, finance, accounting, product development, and technology governance. Audits are conducted collaboratively under the supervision of the Audit Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure all audit activities are executed during the planning, testing, reporting, and wrap-up phases in alignment with the Audit Division's standards and timelines.
  • Collaborate with team members to strategize audit projects, formulate risk and control assessments, and develop audit work programs.
  • Lead the audit team in documenting business and technology management processes relevant to the audit subject. Conduct control testing to evaluate the adequacy of control design and operational effectiveness.
  • Exhibit strong project management capabilities by overseeing daily fieldwork progress, updating managers and clients on audit status, and supervising team performance as needed.
  • Utilize knowledge of risk and control concepts to identify deficiencies and propose process improvements. Lead follow-up activities on audit issues.
  • Draft audit reports, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all audit processes and results in accordance with established standards.
  • Communicate effectively with management through regular updates, presentations, and internal audit reports.
  • Maintain compliance with Fifth Third Audit methodology while assisting team members in understanding Audit Standards.
  • Build and sustain professional relationships with peers and management across business lines to facilitate effective workflows and communication.
  • Contribute to the identification and ongoing monitoring of risks and potential exposures to the organization.
  • Drive personal career development by understanding performance expectations and actively seeking feedback; create and implement a Development Plan.
  • Enhance industry knowledge and expertise to stay informed on emerging issues, applying this knowledge to benefit the Bank's risk-based audit program.
  • Engage in departmental initiatives that promote employee development and continuous improvement of the audit function through special projects.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, embracing new ideas, and building strong partnerships for learning.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Begin to mentor and develop junior auditors to ensure optimal performance in achieving the Audit Division's objectives. Participate in training programs that provide staff with exposure to audit processes and business acumen.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • 2-3 years of experience in Fifth Third Audit or a large public accounting firm; or 3-4 years of general industry audit experience. Experience in capital markets or financial services is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Technology, or a related field is required.
  • Relevant certifications such as CPA or CIA are preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS-Windows and related applications is essential.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and project management abilities are required.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism in a dynamic setting.
  • Results-oriented mindset with sound judgment and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain independence and objectivity in all aspects of the role.
