POSITION OVERVIEW


The technician is responsible for ensuring the proper installation and functioning of designated Astec products, which includes installation, commissioning, training, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

Technicians collaborate with engineering teams to analyze and resolve issues and provide training to customer personnel on maintenance and operational tasks to maximize efficiency and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute installations under the guidance of more experienced personnel
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor with clients
  • Responsible for the proper startup and operation of all electrical, electronic/control systems, and mechanical components
  • Conduct operator skills training for selected customer personnel
  • Create detailed field service reports
  • Coordinate and communicate with Astec sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams
  • Be available for emergency dispatch to support clients and staff around the clock
To excel in this role, your qualifications and skills should include:

  • High school diploma or GED with relevant work experience
  • 2 years of experience in construction, manufacturing, or related fields
  • Preferably 2 years of experience in HMA, Concrete, or Combustion Industries
  • Understanding of electrical and electronic circuits
  • Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and electronics blueprints
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively both domestically and internationally
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Capability to manage conflicts and resolve issues constructively
  • Foster positive, collaborative working relationships with diverse personalities
  • Proficient written communication skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturing Environment - The shop environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools, and equipment, as well as vibrations, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding, and machining operations, outdoor weather conditions, and the risk of electric shock.

Employees may occasionally encounter varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme temperatures.

The noise level in the shop can be very loud, typical of an industrial assembly facility, and may require hearing protection.
