Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the development and rehabilitation of patients with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities by planning and administering individualized treatment plans.
  • Create goals and objectives for patients to work toward and identify areas of progress and challenges.
  • Assist patients with developing or regaining physical or mental functioning.
  • Assist patients with physical and mental support needed to adjust to disabilities.
  • Assess home environment and advise on adaptive equipment needed to assist patients with daily activities.
  • Promote maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to an individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
  • Evaluate results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress and recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications.
  • Maintain records of patient progress and reports to appropriate internal team member(s).
  • Prepare equipment and exam room(s) ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures are followed.
  • Serve as an advocate for patients and collaborates with external organizations to provide appropriate support and necessary accommodations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations and certification requirements.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities including attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing professional networks.
Requirements:
  • Two (2) years of pediatric therapy experience or experience related to the duties described above.
