Job Summary

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Research Pharmacist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a key member of our Investigational Drug Services (IDS) team, you will be responsible for providing and overseeing pharmacotherapy for research patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and supervise the operation of the intravenous admixture program, with a focus on the preparation and monitoring of chemotherapeutic and investigational intravenous therapies.
  • Ensure the accurate and efficient preparation and delivery of injectable chemotherapy and other medications for intravenous therapy.
  • Dosage amounts and intravenous compatibilities are accurately determined, and patient profiles and new orders are reviewed to prevent drug interactions and contraindications.
  • Provide current and accurate drug information to healthcare professionals and patients, including a thorough understanding of new medications, dosage requirements, indications, contraindications, pharmacology, side effects, adverse reactions, precautions, and suitable formulary agents for use in specific therapies.
  • Manage the preparation and review of investigational drug products and oversee the maintenance of accurate investigational drug records.
  • Perform clinical medication order review and verification of computerized physician order entry for investigational and standard of care medications.
  • Prepare, compound, manufacture, and dispense investigational drugs and materials, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of products prior to their delivery to trial subjects.
  • Serve as a drug information resource for healthcare professionals, patients, and their families, and counsel patients on investigational and/or medications for use at home.
  • Train and supervise technical staff members, residents, and interns in established policies and procedures for hospital, clinics, and department.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable governmental and sponsor regulations, laws, and policies.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Completion of a Post-Graduate Residency (preferred)
  • Licensed as a Florida Registered Pharmacist
  • Certification in a relevant specialty or field (preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant pharmacy experience
