Job Title: Clinical Pharmacist Specialist - CICU (Full Time, Day shift) Sign-On Bonus Available

Position Overview: The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality pharmaceutical care for patients within the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Miami Children's Hospital. This position is responsible for delivering comprehensive medication management, which includes evaluating drug interactions, determining appropriate dosages, and implementing cost-effective treatment protocols to enhance patient outcomes while minimizing the risk of adverse effects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize pharmacotherapy for patients in the CICU, utilizing evidence-based practices.
  2. Provide clinical recommendations and support to medical staff regarding medication management and therapeutic alternatives.
  3. Engage in the education and training of pharmacy students, pharmacy residents, and medical residents on cardiac pharmacotherapy.
  4. Monitor and assess medication orders, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and standards of practice.
  5. Participate in daily patient care rounds and contribute to clinical discussions and decision-making processes.
  6. Document clinical interventions and maintain accurate records to meet accreditation and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  1. Doctorate of Pharmacy or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  2. Active Florida Pharmacist License and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  3. A minimum of two years of clinical pharmacy experience in a hospital setting.

Essential Skills:

  1. In-depth knowledge of cardiac pharmacology and treatment strategies.
  2. Strong analytical skills to assess patient responses to medication regimens.
  3. Effective communication skills for collaboration with healthcare professionals and patient education.
  4. Ability to provide supervisory oversight and guidance to pharmacy staff.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to the pharmacy department's formulary management and pharmacoeconomic initiatives.
  2. Engage in research and publication efforts to advance the field of clinical pharmacy.
  3. Participate in the development of clinical competency programs for pharmacy staff.
  4. Ensure safe and effective medication therapies through established protocols and guidelines.
