Job Summary:

The role involves managing and operating a functional stockroom to support the teaching and research activities of the Department of Chemistry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Procure necessary merchandise.
  • Issue requisitions for items available under State Contract.
  • Oversee record maintenance, pricing of supplies, and billing processes.
  • Supervise stockroom work-study students and manage staff schedules and duties.
  • Receive, inspect, and ensure timely delivery of materials to users.
  • Manage inventory levels in the stockroom and prepare reports on sales and activities.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety to maintain an accurate chemical inventory database and manage hazardous waste disposal.
  • Refill cryogenic cylinders as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of experience in procurement, storage, issuance, and accounting for property, including one (1) year in a supervisory role.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Background in science, preferably chemistry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs, reach above head height, and stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Working Conditions:
  • May involve working in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to chemical fumes may occur.
  • Standard office conditions may apply.
  • Potential exposure to biohazards and chemicals.
  • May require periods of standing and lifting.
