Job Title: JEPIS Manager

The School of Engineering at Brown University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced JEPIS Manager to lead the Joint Engineering and Physics Instrument Shop. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the shop, supervising instrument makers/machinists, and ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-precision components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily operations of the JEPIS, including supervision of instrument makers/machinists
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term requirements for the shop
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, including ordering and maintaining stock
  • Supervise and train students in basic machining skills
  • Collaborate with the engineering and physics departments to meet research and teaching needs
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience as a machinist or equivalent training
  • Class A toolmaker certification
  • Experience in assigning and following jobs to other machinists
  • Experience in the use of CNC equipment and software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
