Job Title: JEPIS Manager

The School of Engineering at Brown University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced JEPIS Manager to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Joint Engineering and Physics Instrument Shop (JEPIS), including supervising instrument makers/machinists and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily operations of JEPIS, including supervision of instrument makers/machinists
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment
  • Order and maintain stock, keep shop floor organized, clean, and safe
  • Supervise and train students in basic machining skills
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term requirements for JEPIS
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience as a machinist or equivalent training
  • Class A toolmaker certification
  • Experience in assigning and following jobs to other machinists
  • Experience in the use of CNC equipment and software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
