Job Summary:

We are seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team in a key role. As a key member of our team, you will assist in interpreting and integrating health and safety requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations. Your work will help keep employees safe by contributing to continuous improvement of project health and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of the safety component of an Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) Program, including technical and administrative aspects.
  • Develop and implement Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training programs.
  • Provide input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other groups to ensure that safety and health requirements are integrated within project planning and execution.
  • Interpret safety and health requirements and provide guidance on risk assessment and ESH program execution.
  • Research issues and regulatory requirements and prepare documentation and reports.
  • Support and guide safety studies, risk assessments, and other safety and health reviews.
  • Participate in emergency response and incident investigation and resolution.
  • Interface and communicate with stakeholders and help resolve their concerns.
  • Conduct ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards and risks, evaluate controls and corrective actions, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Bechtel requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
  • US citizenship.
  • Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to obtain site security badge for access to work site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in a field of Environmental Science, Safety and Health Management, or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety procedures, principles, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of national environmental and safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies' processes and responsibilities, industry standards/practices for compliance, and best management practices for minimizing potential ES&H risks during project execution.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction systems, methods, and work processes.
  • Experience in ES&H data management and analytic software programs (e.g.: Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access).
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risk exposures and Personal Protective Equipment standards as well as People Based Safety processes and procedures.
