As a leader in the indoor farming sector, BrightFarms is reshaping how fresh produce is cultivated and distributed through our advanced hydroponic farms. Our operations span multiple high-tech greenhouse facilities, with plans for further expansion.
The Food Safety & Quality team is seeking a Food Safety & Quality Manager to spearhead the implementation of our food safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee production processes to uphold top-tier food safety standards.
- Foster a culture of food safety within the organization.
- Manage routine environmental monitoring program (EMP) samples, including water, swabs, and product samples.
- Lead the Quality Management System in daily greenhouse operations.
- Supervise pest control management and conduct regular assessments.
- Conduct site audits, internal evaluations, regulatory inspections, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) assessments.
- Administer the supplier approval process.
- Perform root cause analyses and implement necessary corrective measures to ensure product safety and quality.
- Conduct food safety hazard assessments, update safety plans, and engage in change management.
- Standardize best practices and develop forms for KPI collection.
- Maintain digital records for food safety and review documentation.
- Communicate effectively with team members across the organization.
- Assist with additional tasks as needed to ensure smooth greenhouse operations.
- Report food safety and quality issues to senior management.
- Complete other assigned duties as required.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 4 to 8 years of experience in food safety and quality, with agricultural experience being advantageous.
- Familiarity with GFSI auditing programs or FSMA regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of creating compliant documentation.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and leadership abilities, setting high standards for safety and quality.
- Detail-oriented and data-driven approach.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with PowerBI is a plus.
- Ability to meet physical job requirements, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Self-motivated problem solver with strong interpersonal skills.
- Adaptable to a dynamic work environment.
- Collaborative team player.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
