Job Title: Tax Collections Supervisor

Join the Oklahoma Tax Commission as a Tax Collections Supervisor and play a critical role in promoting tax compliance and serving taxpayers with transparency and fairness.

About the Role

The Tax Collections Supervisor will oversee a team responsible for determining compliance with laws and regulations, ensuring financial accountability standards are met, and performing supervisory functions including assigning and reviewing work, employee performance reviews, and making recommendations on disciplinary actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the staff selection process and training
  • Communicate job expectations and offer professional growth opportunities for direct reports
  • Plan, monitor, and assess job performance
  • Provide assistance in the coaching, counseling, and discipline of employees
  • Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures
  • Provide technical assistance to management and the general public by providing tax information related to regulations and procedures
  • Analyze and resolve customer service problems through system enhancement recommendations
  • Collaborate with Collections Manager and Administrator in developing strategic goals for the section
  • Gather and categorize statistical data for process analysis and improvements
  • Review and assign accounts of collection/enforcement/garnishments activity
  • May provide direct oversight of the Administrative Hearing process and serve as section liaison with Outside Collections Agencies
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in any field and two years of experience in business/public administration, taxation and revenue, credit collections, or investigative work. Alternatively, six years of experience in business or public administration, highly technical administrative or office management, taxation and revenue, credit collections, or investigative work is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.

Working Conditions

This position requires occasional travel, reliable transportation, and a valid Oklahoma State Driver's License. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and work a standard Monday through Friday schedule with flexibility to work some weekends and telework as needed.
