Job Summary:

The Inside Account Manager - Value Added Services is a key role within SPS Companies, Inc. responsible for generating revenue and gross margin by developing and maintaining a strong customer base in the processing division.

This position utilizes relationship-based selling techniques to meet the processed steel needs of each customer, while maximizing the profitability of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build customer relationships with new and existing accounts to maximize territory growth
  • Understand each customer's needs, and accurately fulfill expectations for quality, delivery, paperwork, communication, etc.
  • Configuration of processed parts using customer drawings and files and quoting using optimal material usage through nesting software
  • Ability to plan and offer achievable delivery dates based on the specified production schedule
  • Interpret customer provided CAD prints and files for quoted parts/packages
  • Exhibit mentality of problem-solving that helps uncover solutions to customer needs
  • Price inquiries in a manner which maximizes revenues, with consideration to minimizing operational costs
  • Understand return on invested capital (ROTC), and exhibit decision making abilities which align with the goals of the company
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the machines, steel products and services offered by SPS
  • Engage Outside Account Managers and sales management on significant inquiries to help maximize the probability of success
  • Monitor the overall goals and results of the territory, and the entire company on a regular basis
  • Provide feedback related to the market conditions of the territory
  • Cooperate with teammates both within, and outside the Sales Dept.
  • Assist other account managers with their daily activities when needed

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings/prints
  • Tremendous drive for results
  • Highly proactive and takes great initiative; proven self-starter; goes the extra mile

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a role responsible for managing the needs of customers
  • Knowledge of general principals of business related to revenue generation, cost impacts and bottom-line results
  • Background in the steel industry or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent work experience
