Position Summary:

We are in search of a committed Integrated Pest Management Specialist to deliver exceptional Integrated Pest Management and snow services to our clientele. In this role, you will play a key part in identifying and cultivating new opportunities within each account. Additionally, you will assist in building a team of skilled professionals to meet workflow demands while adhering to the highest standards—both yours and ours. Success in this position requires the ability to diagnose and manage diseases affecting plant materials (trees and shrubs), turf, and grassy areas.

The Integrated Pest Management Specialist is expected to uphold a positive company image with clients, colleagues, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Service

  • Execute assigned contracts promptly.
  • Confirm scheduled tasks with the IPM Manager before execution.
  • Review the upcoming weekly schedule with the IPM Manager to ensure adequate labor, materials, and equipment are available.
  • Maintain daily communication with the IPM Manager regarding performance and productivity.
  • Assist the IPM Manager in evaluating results and providing suggestions for improvement to enhance business opportunities and achieve financial goals.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary tools and equipment for assigned tasks.
  • Accurately document and submit labor and materials used in accordance with company policy.
  • Complete all workforce management requests in a timely manner.
  • Conduct assigned work safely, adhering to company policies and equipment operating instructions.
  • Address any production issues promptly with the IPM Manager.
  • Follow up on all client service requests and keep the IPM Manager informed upon completion.
  • Ensure compliance with the company proposal calendar and timely delivery of contract renewals.

Financial Oversight and Budget Management

  • Assist the IPM Manager in reviewing and monitoring the financial outcomes of ongoing jobs to ensure they meet performance goals.
  • Ensure labor and material cost estimates are met or remain under projections.
  • Adjust labor hours as needed to maintain financial efficiency and timely project completion.
  • Review production rates with the IPM Manager and provide feedback for estimating work.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct periodic counts of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure inventory control sheets are kept up to date.

Equipment and Vehicle Management

  • Demonstrate proper care and cleanliness of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Comply with driving policies and state weight station requirements.
  • Follow company procedures for vehicle or equipment breakdowns.
  • Understand the operational procedures for snow and ice equipment.
  • Communicate service and repair requests to the IPM Manager.
  • Actively research new tools and equipment available in the market.

Qualifications:

Experience and Education

  • Preferred: Minimum 2-year college degree in horticulture, turf management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in landscape maintenance and IPM processes.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
  • Organizational skills to maximize efficiency and minimize errors.

Language Proficiency

  • Fluent in reading, writing, and conversing in English.
  • Basic conversational skills in Spanish are preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in using company software BOSS and its applications.
  • Ability to create, interpret, and edit documents using Excel and Word.
  • Skilled in managing inter and intra-company communications via email.

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of arithmetic operations and ability to perform calculations related to job-specific tasks.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, handle, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance. Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 100 pounds.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts.

Licensure and Special Skills

  • Valid Class C license with Medical Card (DOT).
  • Pesticide license for turf, tree, and shrub (VA, MD, DC).
  • OSHA 10 Hour certification preferred; First-Aid and CPR certification required within one year of hire.
  • Familiarity with estimating and budgeting systems.
  • Proficient in job hour tracking systems.
