Kaiser Permanente seeks a skilled Nurse Manager-L&D to oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of our unit(s). This role requires a strong leader who can monitor quality, service, and utilization standards, while ensuring the highest level of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the unit's clinical operations, including practice standards, staffing, payroll, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement action plans to improve staff development, supervising a single unit of approximately employees.
- Monitor the allocation and utilization of personnel based on changes in patient population/needs, providing the best level of patient care while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Supervise daily unit operations, including human resources management, department and employee safety programs, and risk management.
- Monitor quality of service and utilization standards, assuming specific responsibility for patient care at the unit level, ensuring coordinated plans of treatment, customer-focused care, and cost-effective utilization of services.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers outside the unit to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum, researching and implementing best practice models from other units.
- Investigate and resolve patient/family member concerns regarding patient care.
- Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience required.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as a charge nurse, preceptor, quality improvement champion, or other related leadership experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support certification required.
- Evidence of training completion as a preceptor or charge nurse.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, and budgeting.
- Knowledge of the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP certification may be required for positions in specific departments.
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- ACLS certification strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
