Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker I to join our team at Gwinnett County Public Schools. As a key member of our Health and Social Services department, you will play a vital role in promoting academic success and well-being for our students and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct case services to address academic, social, and emotional concerns, including student check-ins, small groups, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, home visits, and community service.
  • Conduct home visits after consultation with administration and/or upon school social worker assessment to establish effective communication between the parent/guardian and school.
  • Provide crisis intervention support to students, families, and local schools for situations affecting attendance, social/emotional health, and school environment.
  • Coordinate student/family utilization of community resources and facilitate access to applicable services through school social work delivery model.
  • Serve as a liaison between families and schools concerning compliance with the state compulsory attendance law.
  • Collaborate with local schools to address student social emotional issues.
  • Consult with local schools and the Department of Family and Children Services concerning all forms of suspected child abuse and neglect.
  • Serve as a liaison between the district and community services agencies.
Requirements
  • Certification by state of Georgia as a school social worker required.
  • Master's degree in related field required.
  • Two years successful social work experience post-master's level preferred.
Physical Demands

This is an itinerant position and requires travel between schools. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
