Job Summary

The Texas Workforce Commission is seeking a highly skilled Assistive Technology Specialist to join our Vocational Rehabilitation Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that individuals with disabilities have access to the assistive technology they need to achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and review case management services for the assessment, purchase, and delivery of assistive technology services to customers.
  • Provide expertise and oversee the purchasing process for vehicle modification, home modification, durable medical equipment, and equipment assessments for complex rehabilitation technology customer needs.
  • Assure policy compliance and provide training, consultation, and technical assistance to staff, program contractors, and program providers.
  • Consult and coordinate with the purchasing specialist to ensure appropriate application of comparable benefits for customer services.
  • Conduct program analyses and research, assess service needs, and formulate program plans.
  • Assist in the preparation and justification of budget estimates as requested.
  • May assign and/or supervise the work of others.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in human services, social science, business, or a related field.
  • Three years and six months of full-time qualifying experience in social and rehabilitative services work, teaching and counseling persons with disabilities, social services, medical eligibility, or entitlement programs.
  • Twelve semester hours of graduate study from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each year of the required qualifying experience.
  • One additional year of full-time qualifying experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required college.
Working Conditions

This position requires occasional statewide travel, 20% of work time. Out-of-town events may require overnight lodging for up to four consecutive nights. The ability to lift and/or carry 10 pounds of work-related materials is also required.

Benefits

The salary for this position is $2,909.83 - $3,752.00 per month, depending on qualifications. The State of Texas benefits package includes everything from health insurance, a retirement plan, and a variety of leave types.
