Job Title: Swim Instructor

About the Job:
The Department of Campus Recreation at Penn State University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Swim Instructor to join our team. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching group and private swim lessons to students of all ages and skill levels. You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety of participants, managing disagreements, and modeling positive rapport with patrons.

Responsibilities:
• Teach group and private swim lessons to students of all ages and skill levels
• Ensure the safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards
• Manage disagreements and model positive rapport with patrons
• Communicate regularly with participants and their parents, as appropriate, to ensure they are aware of progress and set up private lessons
• Maintain regular and frequent communication with supervisory team
• Participate in all trainings and meetings within employee group and department wide

Requirements:
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or Basic Water Safety Instructor certification
• American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification
• Completion of Penn State University Bloodborne Pathogens training
• Both criminal and FBI background checks
• Ability to work a variable schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holiday hours
