Key Responsibilities
We are in search of a driven postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in utilizing gait and motion analysis, balance assessments, and eye tracking data through machine learning techniques. This role is integral to the Neurology Artificial Intelligence Program (NAIP), focusing on the diagnosis of neurological conditions using our extensive database of patient-generated metrics, particularly quantitative measures of gait and balance. Responsibilities will include data preprocessing, training machine learning algorithms, conducting clinical validation studies, and disseminating findings through publications and code sharing. Experience in gait and motion analysis, as well as time series analysis, is highly desirable.
NAIP comprises a dynamic team of clinician-investigators, data scientists, and software engineers dedicated to developing AI tools for clinical applications and patient-centered research. Situated within the clinical practice at Mayo Foundation, this position offers a unique opportunity to leverage expertise in gait/motion analysis and eye tracking to create impactful digital solutions for healthcare. Essential Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Machine Learning, or a related discipline.
- Proficient programming skills (e.g., Python).
- Demonstrated history of publications and presentations at conferences.
Desired Experience:
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform.
- Statistical analysis expertise.
- Experience in recording, preprocessing, and managing gait/motion capture/accelerometer data.
- Application of machine learning techniques to gait/motion capture/accelerometer data.
- Collaborative development experience on platforms like GitHub.
The successful applicant will be appointed at either the Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow level, depending on their experience. These positions are temporary and designed to provide training and education in research. Candidates should demonstrate potential for research through their training and peer-reviewed publications, aiming to become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for certain sponsored positions.
