Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Interpreter to facilitate effective communication between hearing and deaf/hard of hearing patients, their families, and Health System staff. As a Medical Interpreter, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct medical and general interpreting and/or transliterating for deaf or hard of hearing staff, patients, and their families.
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks, training, and education within the Health System.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Completion of accredited interpreter training program required.
  • Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing VQAS performance assessment Level III (medical interpreter) or higher or similar certification from another state.
Physical Demands

Job requires frequent travel (distance: 1 mile). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
