Medical Interpreter

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Interpreter to facilitate effective communication between hearing and deaf/hard of hearing patients, their families, and Health System staff. As a Medical Interpreter, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and services.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct medical and general interpreting and/or transliterating for deaf or hard of hearing staff, patients, and their families.
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks, training, and education within the Health System.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Completion of accredited interpreter training program required.
- Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing VQAS performance assessment Level III (medical interpreter) or higher or similar certification from another state.
Job requires frequent travel (distance: 1 mile). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
