Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care using medical ultrasound technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform ultrasound procedures and record anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
  • Assist physicians in gathering sonographic data necessary to diagnose various conditions and diseases.
  • Obtain, review, and integrate pertinent patient medical history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimal diagnostic results.
  • Provide patient education related to medical ultrasound.
  • Record and process sonographic data.
  • Provide patient services in various medical settings.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on equipment to ensure proper safety standards are met.
Requirements
  • Must meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound or echocardiography ultrasound certification with either CCI or ARDMS.
  • Credentials from ARDMS as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in OB/GYN are required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification is required.
Working Conditions

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping, and traveling. The employee must be able to reach overhead, extensively, and repetitively, and manipulate the ultrasound transducer. The employee may be exposed to chemicals, radiation, blood/body fluids, and disease.
