Senior Communications Network Engineer

Apex Systems is seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Network Engineer to support a large government client in Norfolk, VA. This is a long-term rolling contract with a competitive hourly rate and excellent benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Information Assurance Subject Matter Expertise (SME) and thought leadership for the largest Intranet in the world.
  • Collaborate with Network Domain Architects to define and/or continuously improve network design, integration, test, security, and implementation of Transport Services for the as-fielded NMCI network.
  • Lead development of SOPs/TTPs, Continuous Service Improvements (CSI), and System performance tuning and enhancements.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades and maintenance activities with the NMCI Operations Manager, NOC Lead, Release Management team, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide Tier III escalation support and vendor engagement supporting Incident Management activities.
Requirements:
  • Active, DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT-related field and 4+ years of hands-on network engineering experience (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree).
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification.
  • One of the following IAT Level III Compliant Certifications: CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification (or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous work experience providing support to the NMCI program.
  • Experience with Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager (CPPM) identity management solution.
  • Advanced/Professional level vendor certifications (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto).
  • Demonstrated NET/SEC DevOps experience.
  • ITIL v3/v4 certification/training.
  • Agile certifications or applicable experience.
Benefits:
  • $4.57/hr added to your hourly wage for every hour you work within a 40 hour work week.
  • 80 hours of PTO added after first year on contract.
